Privacy policy
My Ground App helps cricket clubs plan their ground and coordinate volunteers. To do that we store some personal information, and this page explains what, why, and the choices you have. It is written in plain English on purpose.
The short version: we store what you and your club enter, we only message you about your club's ground, we don't run ads or analytics trackers, and we never sell your data.
Who we are
My Ground App is run from the United Kingdom by its founder as a sole trader, and is the data controller for the information described here. For anything privacy-related, email dan@mygroundapp.com.
What we collect
- Your account: your name, email address and password. Passwords are stored hashed; we can never read them.
- Your club's ground data: fixtures, pitches, jobs, feeding and maintenance records that your club enters. Some of it references people, for example your name against a job you claimed.
- Notification settings: whether you have email notifications on, and a push subscription token for each device where you enable push.
- Technical logs: short-lived server logs (including IP addresses), kept for security and debugging.
What we don't do
- No ads shown in the service, and no advertising trackers on this site.
- No analytics cookies or tracking pixels.
- We never sell your data, and we never share one club's data with another.
Why we use your information
We use it to run the service you signed up for (our contract with you): planning the square, putting jobs on the board, and sending the notifications you have chosen. We also use it to keep the service secure, and to meet legal obligations. Push notifications only ever happen because you turned them on for a device, and you can turn them off any time.
Cookies
One essential cookie keeps you signed in; your theme choice stays on your own device. There is nothing optional to consent to, which is why there is no cookie banner. Guide videos use YouTube's privacy-enhanced player, which sets no cookies unless you press play.
Who we share data with
No one, beyond the few specialist providers needed to run any online service: hosting and database infrastructure (Vercel and Turso), email delivery (Resend), and weather forecasts (Open-Meteo, which only ever receives your ground's coordinates, never anything about a person). They act on our instructions under contracts that protect your data. Some operate in the EU and US, with those transfers covered by recognised safeguards such as the UK addendum to standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
For as long as your club's account is active. Club admins can remove a member at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account entirely by emailing dan@mygroundapp.com. Server logs are kept only briefly.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict how we use it, and take your data elsewhere. Email us and we will sort it. If you are unhappy with how we have handled something, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, though we would appreciate the chance to fix it first.
Children
My Ground App is for the adults who run and help out at a club. It is not aimed at children, and club admins should not invite anyone under 16.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update this page, and flag anything significant in the app or by email. Questions? Our terms are here, and we are at dan@mygroundapp.com.
